Synopsis A “celebrated hunter.”-- Frederick Courteney Selous “The Greatest of the English elephant hunters.”-- John Guille Millais Taken from the years well before and during the Anglo-Boer War, William Finaughty, one of the great, early ivory hunters told his African adventures to a publisher who owned the pioneer paper The Rhodesian Journal. Finaughty was an adventurer, rogue, and hunter extraordinaire, who survived the death that awaited many early elephant hunters, bagging over five hundred tuskers in five years, as well as living through the intrigues with which the early South Africa was fraught. 'Bill' Finaughty even shot five elephants with four bullets, a feat that is typical of this book. That he hunted entirely with a muzzle-loading rifle adds a great deal of zest to this classic tale of which only 250 copies were printed, and less than half survive today.

Good seller, item arrived undamaged, and I'm happy with purchase. I should note though, while the book was still factory sealed, it does have a very strong cigarette smoke odor. I have been able to successfully remove these type of odors from books before, so I'm not upset about it, but another buyer may get upset about it. I would put in the description that there may be some smoke odor, or something just to be upfront to other buyers, but that's just a suggestion.

Great price and super fast shipment, the book did arrive with a couple of bumps though. A better packaging could've avoided this. Overall good experience.
