Description
PRICE REDUCED 11/1/24. Edited by the Rt. Rev. Samuel Fallows (A.M., D.D., LL.D.), this 3-volume set was a landmark work in Biblical literacy at the beginning of the 20th century. Fallows died in 1922, but the work went through four or five editions to that point, and it continues to be reprinted, though it can no longer be said to reflect up-to-date or even recent Biblical scholarship. Fallows was a Civil War chaplain for the Union Army, later a Methodist minister, later still a Reformed Episcopal minister and bishop, and eventually the Presiding Bishop of the Reformed Episcopal Church and for the State of Wisconsin the Superintendent of Public Instruction. What continues to be stunning in these volumes are the illustrations! See pics for a few of them. These three volumes are in outstanding shape. The bindings are tight, though a little shelf-worn, as are the boards (some bending and scuffing on corners). Pages intact and appear to be completely unmarked. On vols. 1 & 2, he leather on the spines is completely intact, with no cracking. Vol. 3 (see pics) has some wear on the spine both top and bottom.
