Includes numerous steel plate engravings with tissues, wood engravings, and other illustrations within the text. Includes such topics as: Household Art (home furnishings); British painters, antique gems, and includes the Centennial at Philadelphia & Paris Expo, all too much to list. The Art Journal, published in London, was the most important Victorian journal on art. It was founded in 1839 by Hodgson & Graves, print publishers, 6 Pall Mall with the title the Art Union Monthly Journal, the first issue, 750 copies, appearing 15 February 1839. The Art Journal became notable for its honest portrayal of fine arts. A wonderful reference for the artist, interior designer, architect, etc. For a better idea of the HUGE range of topics, look at the photos of the others that I have listed. Everything was exactly as described and pictured. It was shipped and delivered quickly. Each of the three items were carefully and individually wrapped in the box. A little pricey but definitely worth it!
