Description

Edinburgh Encyclopedia 1832 Vol. 19 Brewster leather book Edinburgh Encyclopedia 1832 Vol. 19 Brewster leather book (Old Books, 19th Century Books, Leather Books, Reference Books, Edinburgh Encyclopedia, Americana). The Edinburgh Encyclopedia, Conducted by David Brewster. 1st American Edition, published 1832, Philadelphia by John & Edward Parker. 821 pages. Text in English. Attractive antiquarian 1/2 leather binding, slightly raised & gilt bands, gilt title lettering & compartment decorations, marbled covers. Volume 19 of a larger work. Contents of this volume complete unto themselves. The extensive list of contents includes long discussions about Music, Musci, navigation, notations, numismatics (numismatology- 22 pp.), observatories, Ohio, optics (over 200 pp.!, so practically a book unto itself), ordnance, organs and more. Fascinating reading. Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather and joints dried, scuffed, chipped, joints cracked (but covers still well attached), remains overall attractive as a hand-made object of the era. Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A book which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new. Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive. Please review photos for more detailed attempt to present this book as it survives. We often over-describe any flaws that many sellers would not even bother to mention since most people would overlook them as minor and unworthy of comment. Many people tell us the books they receive from us are nicer in person than they appears on the screen. We want you to be clear about what you are buying, so we take numerous photos and try to describe it openly and honestly. Book Measures c. 11 1/4" H x 8 3/4" W. [B11882].

Excellent experience from start to finish! Noah Webster's Collected Essays on Politics, Literature, and Morals (1843) arrived very quickly—much faster than anticipated. The packaging was thorough and secure, ensuring this rare and fragile item was well-protected during transit. The book was exactly as described, with all expected age-related wear clearly noted in the listing. A true gem for any collector. Highly trustworthy seller—thank you for preserving history so well!

A beautiful map, exactly as described and it was very well-packaged. This was in no way the fault of the seller, but once the item departed, it languished in the USPS system for several days without any updated or useful tracking information being provided by USPS. In the end, it arrived four days late. Hardly a deal breaker, but I did pay $8.95 for USPS to scan the item along the way.

My gratitude and sincere appreciation for this wonderful book; i.e., in exceptional condition I might add. Expedient shipping, exceptional packaging, exactly as described as well as exceptional value,…, he never, ever disappoints, straight across the board,…, once again thank you until the next time.
