Description

Easton Press leather edition of Bram Stoker 's "Dracula," a COLLECTOR'S edition, Illustrated by Felix Hoffmann, Introduced by Anthony Boucher, one of the 100 GREATEST BOOKS EVER WRITTEN series, published in 2005. Bound in hunter green leather, the book has camel tan French moire silk end leaves, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, gold gilding on three edges, a satin book marker---in near FINE condition. Abraham Stoker, who lived from 1847--1912, popularly known as Bram Stoker, was an Irish author who wrote the 1897 Gothic horror novel, "Dracula," a milestone in Vampire fiction. Stoker who received his M.A. with Honors in pure mathematics at Dublin University, worked in the West End Lyceum Theatre and was a theatre critic for an Irish newspaper. His magnum opus "Dracula" has been adapted in numerous movies, films, short stories, and plays. In 1456, Vlad Dracula, having matured into a strong leader with a keen intellect and a penchant for command, finally claimed the Wallachian throne. He established Tirgoviste as his capital city, and he chose to build his castle in the mountains near the Arges River. Dracula was a strict and cruel ruler who enjoyed grisly forms of punishment---dismemberment, strangulation, skinning, burning, and exposure to wild animals, but impalement was his preferred methods of execution. The decaying corpses of the victims were often left on the stakes indefinitely as a warning to any enemies or potential criminals. After being forced from power in 1462, Dracula spent his final years imprisoned in a tower under the auspices of Hungary's King Matthias Corvinus. Vlad was actually more sadistic and bloodthirsty than Stoker's mysterious Count. 410 pages. I offer combined shipping.
