Brief History: “Boots” (also known as The Boots Chemists”) was originally an herbal medicine shop in Nottingham, England, founded in 1849 by John Boot. Boots diversified into the research and manufacturing of drugs during the 1960’s with its development of the Ibuprofen painkiller, invented by John Nicholson and Stewart Adams. The Boots pharmacy is still in business today, although under fire for accusations and concerns that the once family company dedicated to serving society, is now putting profit before the public and its safety. Details: This Boots pocket diary is from the year 1919 and was mainly used for addresses and random notes. Leather and binding are intact, although loose. Over half of the pages are blank. One page has been ripped out. Half of the front page has also been ripped out. This diary was found at a beautiful historic estate on the North Shore of Chicago. The seller was not initially offering shipping on this item, but I sent them an offer to ship and they got back to me almost immediately. They updated the listing promptly so I could buy the item, and once it was shipped, they informed me by DM and even gave me a phone # to contact with any issues. They shipped the item in 3 separate boxes since it was so fragile/expensive, and the shipping was fairly quick. Nothing negative to say about Dorsey Antiques. Would definitely buy from them again!
