Antique circa 1914 Leather Autograph Book. Belonging to Louise Williams of Oakland, CA and dated inside June 4, 1914. Signed by friends and classmates in beautiful penmanship of the day. Many with quotes and poems. Toward the back of the book, her daughter took over writing as a child on December 12, 1931. It has wear commensurate with its antique age, Binding is intact, 1 page toward the end appears to have been removed. This has been our family over a century to this day. Holding this 1914 autograph book feels like stepping back in time. Louise Williams's friends wrote such lovely, thoughtful poems, and seeing her daughter's childhood writing decades later is incredibly touching. A beautiful, personal piece of history.
