Offered is the antique leather-and-board encyclopedia "The World Book-Volume 6-New York to Rice", published in Chicago by the World Book, Inc. in 1918, with a Hanson-Bellows copyright date of 1917. This is a very early edition of this popular encyclopedia, which debuted in 1917-possibly a second printing of the first edition? There are many black and white photos, illustrations and maps, plus at least one color map and illustration. The first and other very early editions of the World Book are rare; at the time of original listing I could only find three other volumes for sale on eBay, none volume 6. NOTE THAT THIS IS VOLUME 6 of 8 ONLY. The book is approx. 9 3/4" x 7" and contains 816 pages, numbered consecutively from previous volumes. It is in good condition overall. The hard black leather and green cloth cover has light to moderate wear, with considerable surface blotchiness. The gold words and symbol on the spine are still mostly shiny. There is no cracking inside either the front or back cover. The design endpapers have yellowed slightly but are otherwise mostly clean. I see no missing pages and all are well-attached to the binding. I see a couple with small tears and a few that have "dog-eared" corners.
