Description
BEAUTIFULLY REFURBISHED/RESTORED ANTIQUE VOLUME DESCRIBING "LEADING CITIZENS" OF COWLEY COUNTY, KANSAS. Fully titled and subtitled, "Biographical Record / This Volume Contains Biographical Sketches of Leading Citizens of Cowley County, Kansas." The book was published by Biographical Publishing Company in 1901, with no authors identified and only "The Publishers" identified at the end of the Preface. As found, the ORIGINAL FULL LEATHER BOARDS were present but partially detached, with the spine title mostly detached. These boards have been refurbished and securely rebound, with the original spine title affixed over a new rebuild spine. New endpapers were also added, and finally, white spine tape was used to secure boards in the gutter behind the new endpapers, front and back. The front and back each had a single blank leaf after the new blank endpaper. The original gilt titling and blind stamped border are now beautifully displayed. The text block was solid, and all pages were clean and present. A previous owner inked name and address on the blank page after the new endpaper in front. There were no other markings in 509 clean and solidly bound pages, gilt on all three edges, PROFUSELY ILLUSTRATED with portraits and locations. There was no interior foxing, with some very light age-toning around pages. There was some ephemera found inside, including a sales slip from the publisher, and some handwritten notes by an individual who used to study his/her family tree.
