In two volumes, being Volumes I and II of this periodical, which ran to a total of IV volumes. A total of twelve issues bound per volume. Vignette title to each volume. 'Harvardiana' was a literary journal made for and by the undergraduates of Harvard University published from 1835 to 1838. This periodical contains a vast variety of short stories, essays, poems, and reviews. Including 'The Comet of 1831', 'On Enthusiasm in One's Profession', 'Rural Sentimentalities', 'Review of Philip van Artevelde', 'Classical Education of Boys', 'Phrenology', 'My Mother's Voice', 'Review of Sartor Resartus', 'The Confessions of a Poet', and more. One of the editors and contributors was American Romantic poet, James Russell Lowell, who graduated from Harvard with a reputation as a troublemaker in 1838. One page of adverts to the rear of Volume II. CONDITION In a half calf binding binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, front board of Volume I is held by one cord only, joints of Volume II and rear joint of Volume I are strained. Rubbing to the boards and spines. Light fading to the spines. Minor bumping to the extremities, resulting in a small amount of loss. Loss to the head and tail of the spines. Rear hinge of Volume I and hinges of Volume II are tender. Torn labels to the front paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean. Tidemark to the textblocks.
