The Analectic Magazine. Volume XII. From July to December, 1818. Embellished with a Vignette Title-Page, and Five Other Engravings, Moses Thomas, Philadelphia, 1818, 524pp, leather, 5.5 x 9", 8vo Fair condition. Wear to front and rear boards with redrot. Tips are bumped with some exposed board. Spine is chipped and cracked but still legible. Floral gilt on compartments still visible. Front hinge is cracked. Bookplate on front pastedown (The Property of William Prescot). Marginalia on front endpaper. Toning, age-staining, tea-staining, and foxing throughout textblock. Illustration plate of Dr. Wistar has been torn out. Binding intact. Please see photos. The Analectic Magazine (1813 - 1820) was published in Philadelphia by Moses Thomas, and later, by James Maxwell. Washington Irving served as editor from 1813-1814. The magazine was described as "comprising original reviews, biography, analytical abstracts of new publications, translations from French journals, and selections from the most esteemed British reviews".     The shipping was fast and the book was extremely well packaged. The book itself is exactly as pictured and although rare books are expected to be expensive, I was able to get a small discount that at least covered the shipping. I'm happy with my purchase, so I can say that it was a good value. I love to find old relics that kind of come full circle to find their home.     Just picked up my package from Robin Rare Books and let me start by saying WOW!!! Book as advertised for sure. the value of the book certainly dictated some care in shipping but never did I think to this extent. The packaging was incredible. bigger box than needed at first thought but after opening based on the care and multiple layers of packing It would have survived a Tank rolling over it. Very grateful for you listing and working with me on the book, true piece of history I will cherish
